The Templehoff family were Jews from Poland and David’s grandparents Israel and Chaya became naturalised British citizens in 1897. His father Myer worked as a book keeper and changed the family surname from Templehoff to Temple.

David’s cousin Francis Montague Mazin was also killed serving in the RAF. He flew with 35 Squadron and died on 22 June 1943 and has a page on the website. David’s Christian stepfather also lost his life serving with 227 Squadron.
