Szymon (Shimon) was born in 1920 in Poland. In 1937, aged seventeen he immigrated to Israel as a student and studied at the Hebrew University, and was active in the Rabbinical Student Association.
During World War II he enlisted in the RAF.
He was on board the ship SS Charles Henderson which was being unloaded at berth at Bari, Italy. The bombs on board exploded killing him and another 542 and injuring 1,800.
