Levin was born on 21 Jan 1919 to Israel and Miriam nee Stone. Levin was the youngest of five children, Reka, Annie, Joel and Ruth. Levin’s grandfather also named Levin was originally from Russia and became a British citizen in 1888 and resided in Devonport, Plymouth working as a building contractor.
