Biography

Joseph was the son of Hyman and Hettie née Kaufman of Stockport, Manchester.

In 1939, the family were living at 43 Lea Road, Stockport and Joseph’s father Hyman was a fur commission agent and his mother Hettie worked as a master gown and mantle dealer.

Joseph had four siblings. Dora, who married Solomon Roseman and they had one son. Solomon died aged twenty nine in 1941. Dora remarried in 1945 to Frank Klonin. Beatrice who married Isaac Goldstein, Sylvia who married Merton Cohen (Kendal) and Sydney.
