Anthony was born in 1922 in Bournemouth to John and Fanny née Krotosky. His father John died six months before Anthony’s death. Anthony had a brother Geoffrey who died in 1953, aged twenty three in Bournemouth.

Anthony was the wireless operator on Lancaster LM370 which departed RAF Ludford Magna on a night operation to Berlin. The aircraft was attacked by night fighters and came down at Oud Schoonebeek (Drenthe) 14 km SSE of Emmen Holland. All the crew were killed.
