Maurice’s father Solomon arrived in England in 1900 and aged fifteen he was sent to Reform school for stealing a carpenter’s plane and on his release aged nineteen he joined the Royal Dublin Fusiliers under the false name of Sam Davies. In 1939 the family were living at 11 Chapel Place, Liverpool and Solomon was working as a cabinet maker.
Maurice was an air gunner in Lancaster R5622 which departed RAF Wyton on a night operation to bomb the Skoda factory at Pilsen. The aircraft crashed at Dobrany, Czechoslovakia killing all crew.
