Julius was born in 1921 in Mile End, London to Polish born parents Morris and Fanny nee Gelefunt.

Julius’s parents were born in Poland and his father worked as ladies tailor presser. At the time of Julius’s death his father was living in Leeds. Julius had two older siblings, Esther who married Harry Solts and Henry who married Tina Freedman.

Julius was an air gunner in Halifax JD122 which took off from RAF Linton-on-Ouse on a night operation to Dortmund. The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter pilot Hauptmann Wolfgang Thimmig and crashed at Zuna, 7 km southwest of Wierden, Overijssel, Netherlands.
