Mark was born on 19 August 1920 in Lambeth to Israel Gluck and of Rebecca née Hyams. Mark’s father Israel served as a sergeant in the Royal Engineers in WW1. In 1939 Mark was living at 3 Osbourne Square, Dagenham with his mother and was working as a clerk in a meat cold storage factory.

Mark was an air bomber in Halifax JB896 which departed from RAF Gransden Lodge on a night operation to Dortmund. The aircraft was lost without trace. All the crew are commemorated on Runnymede Memorial.
