Abraham was born on 10 March 1918 in Hammersmith, the son of David and Sarah née Kroll of London and he had seven siblings, Joseph, Rachael, Leah, Tarandella, Isidor, Stella and Stephanus. Abraham’s father David was born in Istanbul, Turkey and worked as a drapery salesman and pre-deceased his son in 1935.

Abraham was the wireless operator/air gunner of Lancaster JB364 which took off from RAF East Kirkby on a night operation to Berlin. The aircraft was shot down over Berlin.
