Gerald (Gerry) was born on 7 March 1918 to Israel and Edith née Hyman of Leeds, Yorkshire. Gerald’s father Israel was born in Bialystok, Russia and worked as a tailor in Leeds. His mother Edith died three months before him. Gerald had a brother Maurice who married Elsie Furman and had two children.
Gerry was the observer in Wellington X3309 which took off from RAF Snaith on a night operation to Bremen. The aircraft was lost without trace.
