Monty (Moses) was born in 1924 in Whitechapel, London the son of Daniel and Leah née Fresco. Monty had four siblings, Julia who married Milton Cornblatt, Joyce who married Carlo Cremona, Marcia who married David Driffill and Alexander who married Ruth Stone. In 1939, Monty’s father Daniel was working as a newspaper printer and an ARP warden in Stepney.

Monty was the Special Operator on Lancaster LM598 which took off from RAF Ludford Magna on a night ABC (Airborne Cigar) operation to Braunschweig. It is probable that the aircraft was intercepted and shot down by Maj. Werner Husemann of Stab I./NJG3 over Sulingen, Weagerfeld.
